About

Overview of BEFC

The Boeing Employees Flying Club was formed in 2005 by a group of Boeing employees who were private pilots.  BEFC is an owner/operator flying club affiliated with Boeing Recreational Services.  To be a member you must have an employment affiliation with The Boeing Company.  Full club members (General Members) are Boeing Employees or Retirees.   Other categories of membership exist for family members, current badged contractors, wholly owned subsidiaries, and non-Boeing service providers (contact the club secretary if you think this may apply to you).

In the past the club offered a fixed cost share buy-in.  In 2017 the club’s By-Laws were changed by the general membership to adopt a deposit/initiation fess structure to create an Asset Based Non-Equity club (AOPA has flying club info here, and here that explain more if interested).  The current member security deposit is refundable when vested after 1 year of membership and you leave the club in good standing.  There is also a new member initiation fee.  We are an owner/operator club and expect members to be willing to take on the additional responsibilities required for aircraft ownership.  We do not operate or provide services like a flying school or aircraft rental business.  Our club members are accountable to the club and each other for safe operations before and after every flight.  Club participation is expected beyond simply paying dues.  This is a key point and has led to misunderstandings by members who have not fully considered this.

The club carries an insurance policy for all members but there is a member incident cost (capped at $750) that each member is be responsible for should there be damage or a claim.  The club policy also has liability protection which you should understand to help you decide if you would want any supplemental policy.
